It’s one of the premier events on the south’s sporting calendar. This year a record field will travel over 880 kilometres to find our 2005 Champion.

Day One

Stage Three

New Zealand track team pursuiter Marc Ryan defied the chasing field to win the 105 km stage from Invercargill to Tuatapere.

Stage Four

A year ago today, Glen Mitchell was in the depths of despair when a puncture cost him the yellow jersey in the PowerNet Tour of Southland. But today he was back on top of the world when he took over the jersey on the 88k stage from Tuatapere to Winton.

Stage Five

Aaron Strong threw down the gauntlet to the big boys in the 132 km Stage Five from Lumsden to the summit of the Crown Range near Queenstown in the PowerNet Tour of Southland.

Stage Six

The Yellow jersey changed hands in the morning individual time trial as Jeremy Vennell took the lead and protected it on the long afternoon haul into Invercargill.

Day Five, Stage Eight will go down as one of the more controversial of recent tours. Riders battled severe winds and a stage stoppage in the longest stage of the tour which saw Gordon McCauley come from over a minute down to head into the final day with a lead of over 4’30.

After the action of the penultimate day, the sixth and final day of the Powernet Tour was a sedate affair which saw Gordon McCauley cruise to his second Tour victory and Greg Henderson make a point with two Stage wins.
